An exhibition to honor women in printmaking and also celebrate the 25th anniversary of this iconic gallery in Kalk Bay, Cape Town.
Its wonderful to be hosting the first of The Printing Girls 2023 exhibitions in this newly renovated historic building, laden with history and familial ties.  The exhibition is worth a visit to see a diverse set of printmaking technical processes - ranging from my woodblock prints, to etching, monotype, screen print and cyanotype. Artists are members of The Printing Girls, an all female collective of printmakers in South Africa.  We now number more than 90, and the exhibited artists range from young artists currently on the mentorship program to seasoned and highly acclaimed artists.
Artworks are exhibited and available for sale framed and where there are available prints in the edition, also unframed.
This exhibition is particularly close to my heart as I co-curated it with Theresa Jo Wessels, co-owner of the gallery and fellow member of The Printing Girls. It was a privilege to select the work and even better to curate and hang in this exceptional space with raw stone and exposed brick and doors that have admitted a thousand persons over almost 150 years.
