In June this year, I submitted six works for consideration for the Tenth Edition of the London showcase of printmaking, Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair. It was a great honour to have all six works shortlisted. In the final reckoning, four works were selected for the physical exhibition Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair Curated Hang, and you will see these in London in November.
In addition, two woodcuts from my series A Sense of Place have been selected for the WCPF Director's Cut. This is an online exhibition and art sale running for the month of August, celebrating some of the shortlisted works that didn't make the physical exhibition but were still worthy of recognition.
"Notes on the Yellow Rock Fort" is interesting for its irregular shaped woodblock which is the branch of a locally harvested Jacaranda tree, complete with side branches. The Jacaranda block, uneven and imperfect, was wonderful to carve and print, and this one is the start of a set of these irregular pieces.
These two works are available to purchase unframed via the link below. Please search or filter under my name. "Kristen" should get you there.
