This exhibition invites you to explore and celebrate the multifaceted essence of The Mother City and its surrounds.
Our city, with its rich history, diverse culture, and stunning landscapes, offers a unique tapestry for artistic expression. We seek works that delve into the heart of Cape Town, capturing its spirit, complexities, and vibrant life through various artistic lenses.
What makes our city truly exceptional? Is it the pulsating culture, the electrifying nightlife, the gastronomic delights, or perhaps the ineffable vibe that permeates its streets? Cape Town embodies all these qualities and more, securing its place among the world's top cities. We invite artists to explore both its beauty and its contradictions. Artists are encouraged to interpret the physical beauty of Cape Town's landscape, from the iconic Table Mountain to the sprawling coastline, as well as the cultural, social, and historical aspects that define the city's identity. This theme aims to encompass a broad range of perspectives, highlighting the contrasts and harmonies within Cape Town.
Look out for two of my recent woodcuts rendered in graphite: "Looking for a quiet place" and "Element with floating mountain". All details in the Exhibition Catalogue below.
Note that this exhibition has been moved to the main RK Contemporary Gallery space in Riebeek Kasteel.
